Pulse Canada is welcoming 4.4 million dollars in federal funding.

Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz made the announcement on Friday.

Pulse Canada CEO Gordon Bacon says the money will be used to promote the health and environmental benefits of pulses and improve issues surrounding the transportation of pulse crops.  Bacon says Canada has a poor reputation internationally as being an unreliable supplier.

The money is coming out of the Agri-flexibility fund and the Agri-marketing program.
