The Town of High River has served up a huge surprise for the local tennis club.
Diana Jacobs, an instructor with with the club says they've just learned the town plans to rip up the courts in mid-August to get at a waterline for construction of the medical center.
She says they have three courts now and have been offered room elsewhere at Notre Dame School in the northwest but it's only big enough for two courts and they'll just have an asphalt top.
She says "right now we're sitting at 130 members, and I know right now myself teaching I have 41 kids doing tennis lessons with me right now. And we have close to 30 people playing league every Monday night, that's adult league and plus we have a whole bunch of kids coming out for junior league so with just the amount of people we have in the tennis club we cannot go down to two tennis courts."
The original plan was to build new courts in Montrose but that hasn't happened. The town and the club plan to meet again Tuesday to discuss it.
