Arrowwood is the latest Foothills community to benefit from federal stimulus dollars.

Work has already begun to expand the Village's existing sewage lagoon.

Without federal and provincial grants, this expansion would not have been possible, says Mayor Roger Montgomery, "So its a project that's part of the new federal make-work projects.  With grants, we won't have to pay very much at all.  We're hoping that we'll get out of it with less than ten thousand dollars locally."

Montgomery understands, Arrowwood needs this expansion if it wants to grow, "It's going to double our sewage capacity so we'll be able to support five hundred people at least at that stage."

Work on the lagoon began in June and is expected to be completed sometime this fall.

The Village of Arrowwood is situated about sixty kilometres east of Okotoks.  It has a current population of two hundred thirty six people, "give or take a few babies", laughs the Mayor.
