It's not just drivers who'll have to put up with detours along 12-th Avenue in High River.

Engineering Inspector Tom Dougall says pedestrians will be affected along the Happy Trails pathway system as well. One section runs parallel to 12-th Avenue from 1-st Street east to 4-th Street. The other runs east of the ball diamonds at the Rec Plex.

He says it's simply a safety issue because they'll be using backhoes and other equipment to move the dirt in the area. He hopes to have it all re-opened in time for those walks in the crisp fall air.
